Tachyum® has announced a significant milestone in its commitment to data security by successfully porting all four quantum-safe algorithms recommended by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) across its Prodigy® software platforms. This advancement ensures data centre deployments leveraging Tachyum’s universal processor remain secure and resilient against emerging quantum computing threats.
Addressing quantum computing threats to cryptography
Quantum computing, an evolving technology, offers unparalleled performance for complex algorithms such as optimisation and molecular simulations. However, it also poses a significant risk to current cryptographic systems. Shor’s algorithm, a quantum-computing method capable of breaking existing data security protocols, is projected to disrupt encryption standards within the next five years.
Recognising this potential risk, Tachyum’s engineering team has integrated and validated NIST’s quantum-resistant asymmetric algorithms—ML-KEM, ML-DSA, SLH-DSA, and Falcon—into the Prodigy platform. Additionally, the platform supports the quantum-safe AES-256 standard, which has been optimised for enhanced security.
“Tachyum takes security very seriously – from both a hardware and software perspective – so the development of quantum computer-proof data security methods is critical to us maintaining such a commitment,” stated Dr. Radoslav Danilak, founder and CEO of Tachyum.
“As such, we will continue to monitor future cryptograph standards to ensure that Prodigy-based systems remain capable of providing the highest level of security and optimum performance for customers and partners.”
Prodigy’s versatile performance
Prodigy, Tachyum’s Universal Processor, is designed to deliver superior performance across all workloads, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), high-performance computing (HPC), and cloud environments. Its homogeneous architecture enables seamless switching between computational domains without the need for dedicated AI hardware, significantly reducing capital (CAPEX) and operational expenditures (OPEX).
Key features of the Prodigy processor include:
- 192 custom-designed 64-bit compute cores.
- Performance up to 4.5 times greater than leading x86 processors for cloud workloads.
- 3 times the performance of top GPUs for HPC applications.
- 6 times the performance for AI tasks.
By integrating these capabilities, Prodigy-powered servers deliver industry-leading efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness while addressing environmental concerns through ultra-low power consumption.
Supporting sustainable computing
As data centres are forecasted to consume 10% of global electricity by 2030, Prodigy offers a sustainable solution for balancing computational demand and environmental impact. Tachyum recently secured a major purchase order from a US-based company to develop a large-scale system capable of delivering over 50 exaflops of performance—exceeding the computational power of the fastest generative AI supercomputers available today.
About Tachyum
Tachyum is at the forefront of transforming AI, HPC, and cloud computing with Prodigy, the world’s first Universal Processor. Combining the functionality of a CPU, GPU, and TPU, Prodigy delivers unmatched performance and energy efficiency for diverse computing needs. With a strong focus on sustainability, Tachyum aims to redefine global data centre economics while mitigating climate impacts.
